Important Announcement Regarding ECE-TRIS

We are excited to share the first step in our broader transformation effort that is already underway. As part of our ongoing commitment to improving the way we work and serve the Commonwealth, we are modernizing ECE-TRIS, Kentucky’s Professional Development Registry system. This enhancement will create a clearer, more efficient way to submit and record training requirements!

This transformation starts with a behind-the-scenes transition as we are beginning to move content from our current EKU/ECE TRIS platform to a new KY TRIS environment and eventually to a modernized Professional Development Registry called Commonwealth Offerings for Learning and Training (COLT) system.

What does this mean for you today?

Reviews of training requirements have been paused until October 1st, 2025, due to a system blackout period from June 13th to July 31st.

In light of the ongoing modernization effort, the Commonwealth will not be reviewing training requirements until two months after the new system goes live.

However, we still encourage you to complete training per your annual review period. For existing staff that is June 30th and for new staff refer to your First Year Start date.

Key Dates & Actions:

  • System Blackout Period: During the June 13th to July 31st blackout period, the system will be unavailable. However, you should continue to complete your learning and training activities.
  • Alternative Submission Method: Prior to the blackout start date, we will provide an alternative method to submit your proof of completion during the blackout period.
  • Transcript Visibility: Any trainings completed and submitted after June 13th will not be viewable via your transcript until the new KY TRIS system comes online on July 31st.
  • Review of Training Records: DRCC will not be reviewing training records or issuing any deficiencies based on training completion beginning June 13th until October 2nd.

At this time, there will be no immediate changes, so please continue to complete and upload trainings as usual until further guidance is provided.

Before the blackout period, we will send additional guidance specifically regarding continuing training requirements, the static training calendar, and other relevant details.

This message is to keep you informed of what is coming over the next couple of months as we build, improve, and modernize our new Professional Development Registry.
