Blackout Period: KY TRIS Unavailable for Two Weeks

Hello,

As you may know, we are transitioning from KY TRIS (DCBS-TRIS, TRC Portal, and ECE-TRIS) to the new COLT TRIS. This transformation improves how we learn, train, work, and serve the Commonwealth.

As part of this transition, KY TRIS will be unavailable during a blackout period while it is replaced by the COLT TRIS. During this period, you will not be able to use KY TRIS to complete training or access Professional Development Registry tools.

KY TRIS Blackout Period (System Outage)

  • KY TRIS will be unavailable for two weeks beginning Friday, September 11, 2026, at 6:00 p.m. ET.
  • During this outage, you will not be able to sign in to KY TRIS to complete training or perform your usual tasks. All KY TRIS-related business processes will be paused, including access to Training Records.

How will the blackout period impact me?

There are no immediate changes to how you work, except that you will not be able to access KY TRIS during the blackout period.

What happens after the blackout period?

After the blackout period, KY TRIS will no longer be accessible. You will use the new COLT TRIS moving forward starting Monday, September 28.

If I need my Training Records during the blackout period, will I be able to access them?

No. If you need a copy of your Training Records, download them before the blackout period begins at 6:00 p.m. ET on Friday, September 11.

I’m currently enrolled in several Web-Based Training (WBT) courses in KY TRIS (Moodle), and I’ve already started some of them. Will my enrolled or in-progress status carry over to COLT TRIS?

No. If you are enrolled in or currently taking a WBT course in Moodle, your progress will not carry over to COLT TRIS. Please complete all active KY TRIS courses before the blackout period begins at 6:00 p.m. ET on Friday, September 11.

Any in-progress courses not completed by the blackout period will reset in the new COLT TRIS, and you will have to restart them.

If an application has not yet been approved or is in follow-up status, will it transition to the new COLT TRIS?

No. If an application has not been approved or is in follow-up status when the blackout period starts, it will not transition to the new COLT TRIS. You must resubmit it through COLT TRIS.

Thank you for your continued support as we move into this next phase.

We appreciate your time and partnership, The COLT Modernization Project Team
