As in-person meetings, trainings and conferences, including the Trainers Institute, were canceled across the state in response to the COVID-19 pandemic, Child Care Aware of Kentucky sought a new way to reach trainers. In order to deliver valuable training for trainers to learn new skills and grow, a live virtual training opportunity was created. The Trainers Institute: At Home Edition allowed trainers to choose from six (6) different sessions and attend them in the comfort of their home. No social distancing measures needed
Between 42 and 65 participants attended each session. These sessions included topics on how to make training stick, engaging participants, and cultural humility. Attendance at these sessions gave participants the opportunity to receive up to 10 training hours of How to Train Other Adults and Other hours required for renewal of a Trainer’s Credential. In addition, trainers were able to learn new skills, tips and techniques that they could immediately begin using in both an in-person or virtual training.
We would also like to take this opportunity to thank the participants and presenters for showing how flexible and versatile you are. To quote Jay Samit, “Pivoting is not the end of the disruption process, but the beginning of the next leg of the journey.” When life threw a curve ball, everyone showed how well they could turn and pivot. We look forward to our next training opportunity.
