In response to the current COVID-19 epidemic, NAEYC’s Professional Learning Institute went Virtual this year. It is six weeks of newly recorded presentations (around an hour in length) to support professional development; running from June 1, 2020 to July 17, 2020. Within Kentucky, there are sessions that count for both “early care and education” and “How to Train Other Adults” clock hours.
Just as unique, this Virtual Institute is open to all. You do not have to be a NAEYC member to access these trainings. However, to access these presentations/sessions, individuals will have to have a NAEYC account. Current members can log-in as usual. For non-members, they need to create an account. It will initially ask for your email address and then send a verification email to that address to ensure it is current and correct. It walks the individual through the registration process – asking for details like professional information and contact information (including address and phone number). Individuals then set a password for log-in and future access.
Sessions are being added weekly to the Virtual Institute. Within the first 2 weeks, there were over 40 sessions available. Sessions have been approved by DCC and are posted on the ECE-TRIS calendar; also updated weekly as the new courses are available. Session descriptions can be found within the NAEYC Virtual Catalog. Upon completion of a course, NAEYC provides a certificate of completion that you can submit to ECE-TRIS (along with the Individual Training Form) to receive credit.
Have you attended a session? Have you wondered what sessions are available? Be sure to check out the Virtual Catalog; checking weekly for additional trainings as they are added. https://www.naeyc.org/virtual-institute
If you have any questions, please remember to reach out to your Regional Training Coach. This is a rare training opportunity. Hopefully you can take advantage of this opportunity and enjoy these NAEYC sessions.
